When a student who has previously withdrawn or been expelled (except for those ineligible for re-admission under the Academic Regulations) applies for re-admission to the university, they may be re-admitted to their original grade year or lower if there is a vacancy in the total number of student places for that campus (except for the College of Education which has different vacancy criteria).
If a student has been expelled, they cannot apply for re-admission within one year from the start of the semester in which the date of expulsion falls (two years for those expelled on academic warning under Article 31, No. 7 of the Academic Regulations).
However, in the case of a fourth-year student, they may apply for re-admission after one semester, regardless of the reason for expulsion.
Students applying for re-admission to the first semester of the year must complete and submit an application from mid October to mid November of the year prior to re-admission. Students applying for re-admission to the second semester of the year must complete and submit an application from early to late May of the year of re-admission. Applications must be submitted to the Seoul Campus Academic Services Team (or Sejong Campus Academic Affairs and Admission Team).
A student should check the re-admission application guidelines announced on the homepage>Hongik Plaza>Notices>Student Notice every semester.
Successful applicants for re-admission into the first semester will be announced in early February, and for the second semester in early August.
A student should check the announcement of the semester for re-admission for details on the re-admission application format.
