Transfer System Information

1. Transferring within the same campus
   Students transferring into a another faculty or department is limited to within 30% of the entrance quota of a faculty or department, and transferring out of a faculty or department up to 50% of the enrollment capacity, only when there is no disruption to the operation of the department. However, transfers into the College of Education can only be accepted when there is a vacancy in the number of student places allocated for each department.
2. Transferring from one campus to another
   Transfers are accepted within the number of student places allocated for each department (or division).
3. A student may only transfer once during their enrollment.

Eligibility for Transfer

Students should check the transfer information announced on the homepage > Hongik Plaza > Notices > Student Notices in November of each year.

1. Students who are enrolled in either their first or second year at the time of the announcement.
2. Students who have completed either their first or second year, are on a leave of absence at the time of the announcement, and plan to return for the first semester of the next academic year.
3. Sophomore (2nd year) transfer : Students who have completed 35 or more credits for those admitted in 2015 or prior, and 33 or more credits for those admitted from 2016.
4. Junior (3rd year) transfer : Students who have completed 70 or more credits for those admitted in 2015 or prior, and 66 or more credits for those admitted from 2016

5. Students on a Leave of Absence who have completed their third or fifth semester and plan to return for the first semester of the next academic year may apply for a transfer to second or third year, respectively.  However, the credits and grades earned during the previously attended academic year (third or fifth semester) will not be recognized.

   In this case, the first semester of the second year (for second year student transfers), or first semester of the third year (for 3rd year student transfers) after the transfer has occurred will be recorded as a repeat on the official transcript.

6. A student can only apply for a transfer once into each year they wish to transfer to during their enrollment.
7. Transferring to the Faculty of Architecture (Seoul Campus) : Transfers are only accepted into second year, and students must complete the mandatory first year Faculty of Architecture practical design classes.
8. Transferring to the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering (Sejong Campus) Architectural Design Major : Transfers are only accepted into second year, and students must complete the mandatory first year Faculty of Architecture and Engineering  practical design classes.

Selection Factors

1. Total number of credits accumulated and GPA (excluding the final winter semester)
2. Basic subjects : In the case of transferring to Natural Sciences/Engineering : English, College Mathematics (1). In the case of Humanities/Arts : English, Logical thinking and writing
3. General interview
4. A score is given for each selection item/criteria, and a total score is calculated. Applicants are selected in order based on their total score.
